Lust is the eternally dissatisfied passion,
That sees only what isn’t mine,
Desiring the achievements of selfishness,
They live life with reckless abandonment,
Gathering in the spoils of greed,
Never facing the consequences of loyalty.
The hater’s kind words are the loyal heart’s trap,
Enticing the faithful into their web of deceit,
Waiting for the chance to pounce on the unwary,
Choosing their words carefully to intimidate,
Thinking that everything bows to his desire,
His single minded pursuit of more and more,
Will end in the eternal poverty, a destitute heart.
God saw exactly what happened in my life,
My flirtations with earth’s pleasures,
They ended with an abrupt stop,
When God began his purifying work,
It started with the dark night,
Ending with a new dawn,
My heartfelt prayers,
Touched heaven’s heart,
My road to ruin,
Was stopped by a brutal jolt,
That woke me from my slumber.
My heart grieved for what I had lost,
The seeking of riches and the pride of wealth,
Humbled by the poverty of losing it all,
Battered by the winds of uncertainty,
Finally brought to Eternity’s safe shelter,
Desire was made subject to truth,
Becoming my passion replacing selfish lusts,
When I falter God is lifting me up,
My heart wakened to the words of salvation,
Again I turned to the life’s truest truths,
Giving me the courage to continue each day,
Never questioning the path given to me,
Celebrating with everyone the work done in me.
