Betrayal’s bitter pill is the reminder of lost trust,
My greatest treasure discarded by disloyalty,
Her painful cry joins with my disappointment,
My sigh of sorrow turns to tear filled sleep,
My heart yearning for a sign of grace,
Lost in the abandonment that fills my thoughts,
Wondering where a true heart can be found.
Where is God when my heart is abandoned?
Alone is the frightening reality that is faced,
Always seeking where trust can be found,
What do you say God to my deepest hurts?
Have you forgotten your most loyal child?
What has she done to deserve this reward?
The bitter taste of rejection’s hard face,
Brings me to the feet of love’s greatest kindness,
Deliver me from the temptation to hate,
Remind me again of your forgiving welcome,
My home is found in the heart of creation,
When hope seems impossible and trust gone,
From the brokenness transformation could shine,
Bringing light to every word that is said,
Led by the hand that wipes every tear,
Worship rises from the humbled heart,
My safety rests in God’s beautiful power,
Led from the chasm of despair’s deepest pain,
Into the promised land calling me home.
