The safest place in this life is to have nothing,
Trust is a fickle idea that always falters,
At the coal face of true sacrifice,
Our true colours will quickly show themselves,
Flying high announcing who we really are.
Surrounded by a sea of lost faces,
Caught by the trapdoors of instant success,
Death’s lies are always beckoning us,
Battered and bruised by the hopeless promises,
Wandering lost in the darkest of nights,
But, I am guided by my home star,
That takes to Love’s safe haven,
I breath the deep sigh of relief,
Finding myself home again,
Familiar surroundings comfort my anxiousness.
God took my feeble attempts at love,
He reaches out to me with a strong hand,
Calling me by my special name,
Given by the one who began my life,
A hand that protects me from the distractions,
Eternity is the promise of true love,
Not the easy promise of selfish desire,
That ends in the fickleness of playing the field,
Salvation is the satisfying perspective,
That ends the night and gives me a fresh start.
