How long will love’s offering be forgotten?
Grace’s heart opened wide to give,
Quickly forgotten with contemptuous self interest,
My heart bears the burden of the forgotten voice,
When hope was quickly crushed by pride,
My tender reed’s cry forgotten easily,
Promises of loyalty broken by shallow excuses.
The reward for broken promises will come soon,
When love’s offering is lost forever,
The lament will be that “I wished I’d listened.
For there was a time when I was also heard”,
Now the forgetful heart lives in poverty,
The most precious love was ignored too long.
Praise’s heart reached out with a song for me,
When love was given foolish explanations,
Using lots of words but little compassion,
In the midst of all what is lost,
A new song began to be sung for me,
One that touched my soul’s heart cry,
And, began to meet the deepest rhythm,
Finding a place where a soft voice can sing,
A tender lullaby is given fresh heart,
When the song that belongs to me,
Is heard by the heart where love begins,
Hearing my song with adoring ears,
Eternal applause will meeting my final bow.
